Self Loathing

anguished

I can be your strength and shield!
As tears of weakness fall.
Who am I to be your echo?
When words can crush my soul!
I want to be a freedom wish,
That flies above the stars.
And yet with all my honesty,
I cannot heal my wounds.
For you are all my eyes can see
Of everything and more,
And yet such thorns pierce me yet!
Who can I be to you?
I am the one to comfort,
A healing entity.
Despised within for all I
Know, I never can succeed.
For in my heart there is
Decay, my flesh is death/'/s
Own smile, for even as I take
A breath, my image is gone!
None of what I say to you,
I have truly heard.
Because I will return to
The earth, and I will
Have failed.

Perfect title for this poem! Amazing!!!
Sad, anguished, and scary. I could feel every word.
Thank you for a great read.

A pleasure to be back reading your thoughts. I can relate to these days/nights. Alone in our own perceived darkness waiting. I enjoy writing that captures and yours always does |
