A Poets Riddle

Contributed by softerware on Wednesday, 30th March 2016 @ 09:45:38 PM in AEST
Topic: limericks

I want you all to know that it
went UP the chimney DOWN!
And just as easy as you please
Came DOWN the chimney DOWN!

But never would it go you know;
UP the chimney UP!
And no one could convince it to
Go DOWN the chimney UP!

Even though I soaked it
It was useless when it dried!
And far preferred the out of doors;
to being trapped inside!

The answers in the rhyming;
If youre a clever fella!
Please dont reveal the answer;
Lets not tell its an __________________!

Ah! You took me for a fool for a moment! Unintentionally of course. ;)

It took a second, maybe third read to really get it, because I didn/'/t know what I was rhyming with. :p

Held in many hands,
Some rich and some poor
It sometimes seems to sweat,
Though it has no pores. :)

cigarette
a large unhappy
squirrel
no, a, I was thinking
raccoon, but why would one
soak it and then let it dry
what on earth rhymes with up
or down
or chimney
or is it something rhyming with
home, no phone likes to be outside
no, wrapped, tapped, cement
frappuccino, no that could not be
it ...

wait, lets not tell its an elephant
no no no
the elephant white in the room
nope, that cannot be it

when it dried, " it was useless when
it dried"
And far preferred the out doors:
to being trapped inside"

palindrome but no I/'/m thinking like
in a mirror but I
miss the whole point about
chimney direction and getting wet
and wanting to preference to outdoors
please do not tell its an
some kind of tele novella
an old nursery rhyme
What was the guys name
Joey Buttafouco

St Nick

Its an .... escarpment
oh gosh,
I am spending too much time with this

Okay, I will not tell

thanks for the riddle
wait, what on earth would one soak
fully expecting it would go down the chimney
and not up, or up the chimney but not down

analogy to life
some crazy mentos dropped down a chimney waiting below a huge bottle of carbonated soda

I give up

no
I will have to consider this for a long while

I will carry it with me for the rest of my life
like a ball and chain
wait, wait... fella

smella , no that/'/s not even a word
its an alpha, an omega
an orange colored cigar

see I have a fireplace but we never use it
and it is kind of strange because I always
loved fireplaces even when I was a kid

but now I just stare at it sometimes
and the mantle over it, it becomes just another
place to put junk when you clean up

it is an, it is not a
so it has to rhyme and it has to
start with a vowel
so it cannot be a chia pet no matter
how much I think it could be over and
over again in my mind, wishing that it
could live and one day be free

no way is it acronym, you would not go
that crazy road with us

ember

an obsidian still hot
cooling it was not a diamond
worthless

an Ideology
an origami dodo

I do not know
I do not know
something chemical

an oxidant
what ever it is
it does not sound good

I was never good at
rhyme

I have an upside down mind
just now

Peace!

You are so clever. I know I/'/m not the only one to consider you the sage of YPDC. I thought it might be my auntie Ella, but she/'/d never fit in a chimney, up or down. Warmest wishes to you.
