Borderless Souls.

Contributed by Invierno on Wednesday, 30th March 2016 @ 05:01:48 AM in AEST
Topic: abstract

soul chained to this stake
of a body-
these fingers that hurt
begging to be cracked.
these feet taking aim,
turns in pain from toes to lower back.

body chained to this stake
of a planet-
this globe not up or down
left or right
day or night
spinning in orbit to orbit to orbit.

brain chained to this stake
of a skull-
this calcium wall
locking my soul to my body
on this earth
always rotating
never out of step.

All chained to this stake
of physics-

no place at the table for
wannabe borderless souls.

Definitely abstract, definitely cool.

Thank you.

A toast to freedom; a lament to physical boundaries. I never thought of my skull as a calcium wall--but now I will not forget it!

Your last line may be correct, depending upon whose table you are sharing! Thank you for this fine food for thought ..courtesy of your vivid imagination, with a tip of the hat to science!

The last line gets me... Borderless... Makes me think of the outline of a cartoon character.

I suppose, the soul without body, without brain, and without physics, would hardly be a soul. It would be unaware that anything wasn/'/t or was.

Kind of funny how the soul in that state, is much like the holding one/'/s self in a shell; except one/'/s not denying the self and their own emotions, but more of a zen-like state. Kind of like the "environment" in the short story I had you read about Red and Grey a long while back.

This was a striking piece. From the title to the imagery. I can imagine a soul being pulled in so many directions that it breaks the compass. A stirring write.

Stunning write, everyone finds something different in a poem, and for me it reminds me that all is connected always. For good or bad, and I choose the good always. I will focus more on the extended factors of my life and cherish it because of this poem. God bless my brother

Greetings
Rus
