You take life
A day at a time,
A blind faith in God,
Trusting it/'/ll all be fine.
Best laid plans
Shot down, you lose again.
You lose it all
A time or ten,
Pick back up,
Start again.
Each time losing a little more,
Forgetting what you/'/re fighting for.
How much more
Do you have to lose,
With whom does karma,
You wonder, have a score?
What did you do to lose all this,
Never to gain a foothold,
To be denied a chance?
You discover the maybes,
The what-ifs, the regrets.
Blissfully, almost, you let depression
Take you.
She suckers you in
With a persuasive, "You/'/re not good enough."
Memories viewed in hindsight,
20-20 on the silver screen in your skull,
Commentary from Satan,
Trying to steal your soul.
The Liar offers up a bullet,
But you see through, you fight.
With blind faith in God,
You struggle, you toil,
You trust He/'/ll make it right.
And still you sit at home,
Always alone, think, cry.
You write.
