How can I feel for you now when in life
there were none
The tears I cry aren't for you but
for those I truly care for,
Their selective memories can't recall
the reality
It's clouded by the image of how this
is supposed to happen,
Rather as I stand gazing at you now
in the final rest
It's not unlike what things were like
during your time here
Upon trading the role of provider for
drink and indifference
Amongst the deal came a hardened heart
and stolen years
