The problem

Contributed by lydthon15 on Friday, 19th February 2016 @ 07:23:34 PM in AEST
Topic: FriendshipPoetry

The problem is that I worked so hard
pretending not to need you that in the end I messed up.

I thought I had mastered the perfect balancing act
perched on the thin line between appearing needy and indifferent.
That I had finally reached normal.

The problem is that you weren/'/t prepared to see me fall
on the needy side and I didn/'/t realize I was there the whole time.

The problem is that you didn/'/t hate me for it like I thought you would.
You fell too. You fell in love with my need and I was okay with it

I thought that at least you loved some part of me.
The moment I stopped balancing and started flying
and started loving myself you ran.

The problem is you always wanted to be my spotter,
You always wanted me to need you
and to stay on the ground.

I guess that letting go before you clip off my wings
is the only solution.
