Creating Someone New

Contributed by The_Unknown on Wednesday, 27th January 2016 @ 04:38:27 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

She holds her hand to her chest
Wrapping herself in arms
Thinking back on these past few years
Wondering how she wound up here
Mourning chokes her deep within
Tears slip out without a sound
Staring into darkness, demanding it to swallow her whole
The burning in her heart grew cold
Until there was nothing but a silhouette

She forgot to take a breath
Submerging herself in the waters of her mind
Breaking the threads frayed at the seam of her collected self
Seldom she traveled so deep
Eradicating all that was
Asking what she was doing to herself
Everything she thought she knew she found
A million pieces of her fading
Disintegrating in the waters

Someone else awoke in her eyes
She is neither warm nor cold
Only emptiness could be so vague
Internally flat-lined
Trying to pretend that life is still within
But she gave it everything
She gave it all away

All the knowledge of her life existing
Yet empty of definition

Wow! The feeling of giving up and hopelessness conveyed in great poetic form!

Keepa writing.

This has a lot of identification and relation to a significant extent for me.

Strangely only when I/'/m confident and in a rare spike of happiness do I feel like I/'/m actually a whole person. As sad as that is. =

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
