The Door Of Winter's Night

Contributed by Invierno on Sunday, 24th January 2016 @ 05:27:05 PM in AEST
Topic: NaturePoetry

Leaves are drifting softly,
floating on the wind;
with a flutter and a sigh,
Mother takes them in.

Through pardon of captivity,
from bonds that hold them tight,
leaves sing the song of color
to the door of Winter/'/s night.

When bastions rising from the earth
let loose their cloak of gold,
the seeds of life that sprang from death
are protected by their fold.

Through frozen season pure
living still the slow pulsed life,
the tender seeds of yesterday
battle Winter/'/s strife.

Yet with the brethren of themselves
protecting, holding safe,
the piercing cold cannot be sown
into the living breathing space.

With the elixir of the warming sun
comes the kiss of Her rebirth;
life, death, renewal,
such is the way of Mother Earth.

I thoroughly enjoyed this poem!
The language you used is eloquent.
This wonderfully describes the cycle of life and death on mother earth.
Thank you for sharing this with us all.

A story of all living things, disguised as a cycle of natures greenery.
We are all "tender seeds of yesterday" battling Winter/'/s strife.
Renewal comes at the expense of releasing our hold on life, "through pardon of captivity" from bonds that hold us tight.
It is a sweet song of surrender and promise.
How beautiful the soul who embraces existence this way.
