Little songbird where have you gone?
The days have grown short and the nights far too long.
I yearn for the spring when I can hear your sweet song.
With the chill of the winter, rushes a sadness to my heart
Each living thing patiently waiting their new start.
So I close my eyes and my thoughts gently drift to the beauty of May.
To the rebirth of the earth and the green fields that lay.
And oh the wild flowers in full bloom just for you
to perch on a branch and sing your song true.
So songbird I will see you soon on that old dusty trail,
Where the sun shines on me and you, feeling the love of God, we never will fail.

Ah, but maybe enduring winter makes us appreciate spring much more. Just a thought.
I was happy and pleasantly surprised to see a new poem from you. It is a true piece of art. Love it!!!
Thank you, K.
In the meantime, through the magic of interneting, I bring you a picture of spring.

Oooh, I like this. It/'/s got the beauty of the world and its delightful seasons, as well as using the subtle connection of winter/'/s chill and a sad heart, and it carries itself with a nice round of a rhythm; it almost makes me think of a cheerful, hopeful, longing, and sweet drinking song, though truth be told I never have taken part in any of them. Lol
The rhyme of song and long is okay "sounding" in the mind, but May and lay, with those two lines as lovely as they were and perfectly flowing from one to the next, *refreshing "ah"* these make for a nice what some would call the sprinkles, but I the cute little twirl at the tip of the soft-serve ice-cream cone. :)

Lovely flow and imagery. Winter is not my favourite, either. I am learning to love it (in tiny doses), with childlike wonder. I find the silent beauty in the winter woods is unparalleled.
Thanks for sharing!
