Horrible Sunday

I step outside today looking for a better day although the skies are already a dark gray...
It can’t be no worse than yesterday...
Today is Sunday a day I’ll remember forever...
I was wrong though because today is worse than yesterday...
While I lay safe asleep in my own bed...
You lay on the cold edge of death...
You didn’t come home last night but I didn’t think anything of it until today when a knock on the door woke me up...
I dreaded what the man at the door had to say that you were no longer okay...
So we rushed to you and wept there at your side crying to Jesus not to take you...
First it looked as though you would die but sweet precious Jesus heard our great cry...
That day I had cried a lot b/c I thought of all the things I had said to you I didn’t mean...
But I thought even more of they things I had never told you...
Today your okay and I’m thankful for that...
I tell you every chance that I get that I love you and all the other words I never got to say until after that dreadful day...
So let this be a lesson to everyone that reads this to never say the things you don’t mean to someone you love b/c you’ll wish you could take it back when it’s too late... and always tell the people around you how much they mean to you ... don’t put it off to say another day b/c you’ll wish you had said it if the next day is like my horrible Sunday. Dedicated to my older brother from his loving little sister! I love you Jacob and happy you’re still here!

Something similar to this happened to me. It was my dad and he died and I never had a chance to say goodbye or take back the horrible things I said so I can totally relate to this. I am so glad your brother is OK. Have a read on my poem "I thought that it could wait". It is sort of the other side of the coin.
Great poem!
