Make-Believe

Contributed by softerware on Sunday, 29th November 2015 @ 03:50:38 AM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

Sometimes when love is needed; we overlook the flaws;
The warnings go unheeded; and thus the artist draws!

One more disappointment had made my heart a faker;
Delusion was the option, and I was bound to take her!
My heart saw what it wished to see. My love was misdirected.
His image painted carefully; to match what I expected.

My colors were excuses, and promises unkept;
In rosy shades of love that fades, and tears I should have wept.
Layer upon layer until the weight of lies; cracked and disassembled,
And there to my surprise, stood a perfect stranger, wearing my disguise.

You’d think our parting easy in the sudden light of day;
But habit makes a fantasy so hard to give away!
Another year would pass before we went our separate ways.

Romance needs illusion for love to first propose;
But not prolonged delusion, as every lover knows;
Who's dined well on catastrophe to paint a weed a rose!

This was spectacular and I'll fool myself with pleasure that you wrote it to guide me on my journey of hell and disappointment.

My mere words can not convey the truth and the complexity of which you wrote. However that said it's no issue for you. You just can't write poems like this without much study, experience, and help from above.

The master of poetry just spoke to us, I hope you all were listening. Wow and wow, roses at your feet.

Thanks for the semicolon toutiledge as well.

James

A brilliant piece. There is much to add, but 'brilliant' eclipses the individual comments.

I guess this is why they say "Love is blind". Sometimes we can overlook things we shouldn't, and put up with things we shouldn't.
However, I guess nobody is perfect. If everyone was perfect, that would be kinda boring.
Great write.

Holy *****, Batman, this is incredible!!!!

I'm not sure if I ever figured out the illusion from the real thing. Some people seem to have "that power" over the other.

Great great stuff here!

Thanks,

Tim

Well-penned. We need a little fantasy to fire the boilers, but not at the expense of the slow burn that provides true warmth.
