I said I forgave you to make it right
but do not believe
I've forgotten that night.
Absolution given and received;
doubts still lingers...
no reprieve.
Searching for clues
to what is unknown
nagging fear spurs me
to look at your phone,
As my heart starts to pound
I put your phone down.
Do I really want to know
disturb Status Quo.
You said it meant nothing
gloss over my suffering
too bad you can't see
what has happened to me
For inside I am frozen
I no longer feel chosen

After I read the poem, I realized that title is perfect. I love the way it sets up the rest of the poem.
Messing around behind your significant other's back is definitely not gender bias. Gad, do I know. I can understand this as it is so relatable. I'm sure a lot of us can.
The forgetting is much more difficult than the forgiving.
Poetry is great therapy. Thank you for sharing this little gem, even though I'm sorry you apparently had to go through that (assuming this is based on experience).
