Sun shining down on glistening snow
Silently creating an impressive light show
Jack Frost blankets the windows today
Snowman urges folks to come and play
City plows trudging down icy streets
Covering cars and passerby's feet
No need to shovel there's more to fall
Grab your coat throw a couple snowballs
Lakes now frozen and plowed to rinks
Families all gathered bringing hot drinks
Ski slopes open all their runs
Wintertime equals cold weather fun

Great poem Kris
Reminds me of being a kid when it was all
so fun. Like Frosty The Snowman.
Thanks for the memories.

This is delightful and so full of wonderful images and a touch of humor ("covering cars and passerby's feet")..
Such an easy flowing story of winter descending upon the city, that I can picture every scene. (not easy, I live in the desert!)
Thank you for taking me back to my hometown (NY) just before Christmas! You have made me wonderfully melancholy and wishing I had some roasted chestnuts to enjoy!

A delightful romp! I was looking for a scarf by the time I was done! lol
Yes, winter is coming here as well. You must be way the heck up north if this (in your poem0 is already happening).
We need a poet from deep south to toss one on here to contrast the icy timbre' of your verse.
