Finding our Way

Contributed by softerware on Sunday, 1st November 2015 @ 08:46:54 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

Computers and TV would do well to teach us;
Instead to survive, they must pander and leash us.
And by their distraction, we’re easier to keep;
Calm and contented, like good little sheep.

We’re walking the paths of others ambitions;
Who hijack our thoughts and compete for position!
They sell using sex, and tempting rewards;
While we all hum their jingles and dress like billboards!

Over-informed, and under-enabled;
We start every day with the world at our table!
Unhappy with those who are doing the steering;
But letting them run things without interfering!

We each have the power to change what impacts us;
So long as we stop and take time out to practice!
To turn off the static and unplug the links!
(How long has it been since we sat just to think)?

To pause in that silence that some have forgot;
Calmly awaiting the seeds of a thought;
A time to decipher those tangled rewires;
Til all our beliefs will stand up under fire.

Defining uniquely our own bill of rights;
Pursuing what brings us our joy and delight.
When our thoughts speak the words our hearts long to say;
We will, in that moment, have found our own way.

How long has it been since we sat just to think?

I can't speak for anyone else, but for myself, not a very long time ago.

_______

This technology has, however, brought many of us together, where a few decades back, it would have been a bit more difficult. I am thankful for the positives.

I do love the poem, though, so don't get me wrong. Always a pleasure.

Thanks,

Sir Tim

Love the counter cultural feel of this! I agree with every line. I'm glad to have read this and had my inspirations to fight against the status quo reinforced. Take care and God bless,

Deidra
