You Were Brave

As I sit here by your grave
I remember you were so brave
Although you had no choice,
It was God who stole your voice
I guess he just had another plan,
For you in heaven, rather than be a man
His choice has left me mourning in every way
I still think of you Dj each and everyday
My promises to you I could not keep
Forgive my Son as I continue to weep
Wishing things were not they way they are
Wishing I could go with you, touch the stars
But here in this world is where I must stay,
Because your brothers still need me in every way
You are still with them, you are close to their hearts
That is one promise I kept, ya'll will never part
It's hard to come back every time that I do
It's hard to be this close wishing I could see you
I know you are near me everywhere that I go
When butterflies fly, I know that's your show
I remember holding you that nightmare day
I keep begging God just to change his way
That's not how it works, what's done is done
But that doesn't mean that you're not still my Son
