so much anger
within gaols!
raw despair
and forlorn wails;
all because the ones inside
fell prey to their rage and pride.
regimented, bored and lost,
inmates count the total cost
of wasted years and sacrifice
to hollow gods of greed and vice.
everything is whittled down,
rights and choice to move around
and penitents guard every breath,
for sideways looks can conjure death.
a single act, or lifelong spill
shunned now for good or ill;
more demons there than one can kill,
regret an ever bitter pill.
so few shadows in which to hide,
all because of rage and pride.

I like this poem! It paints a picture not often taken to canvass of the mind.
Rally cool. I hope to see more.

Well crafted, and a rare subject from the inside looking out.
"Regimented, bored and lost,
inmates count the total cost
of wasted years and sacrifice
to hollow gods of greed and vice."
Captivity dehumanizes not by the loss of freedom; but by the loss of love, which cannot exist in its absence.

Life suddenly doesn't seem so bad after reading this.
We are all slaves to anger at some point in our lives, some let the anger make them prisoners you might say.
A lesson to all us all to think before we act perhaps, before it's too late
