Ode to the Katy Trail

Contributed by irisblue on Sunday, 27th September 2015 @ 06:20:42 PM in AEST
Topic: NaturePoetry

Sun shining
Wind gently blowing
Leaves falling all around
me
Wild flowers vivid and fragrant
Blue buntings singing to
me
Hot guy passes me
by
Farmers plowing
Crops glistening
Warm feelings
This is where I feel so free.

I love this, Irisblue. It makes me feel warm and fuzzy (and I so enjoy that flavour). The Katy trail, eh? You from St. Louis, Mo.? I used to live one block off Main in old town St. Chucky. Spent many an afternoon on the Katy trail. I've found three of my favourite poets on this site are from St. Louis.

Cool poem. Hope all is well, my friend.

I remember riding the trail Ms Blue. I'm not sure if my knees could handle it anymore. I also rode the other two wheeled friend, the motorcycle and let me tell you, cars and motorcycles don't mix. I think it's finally caught up to me.

I loved reading this. So gentle and relaxing. Thank you for sharing.

I'm surprised the guy just passed you by.

And thanks for your response to one of my latest writes. Will do.

Just lovely. Made my morning, reading this. Felt I was on the journey with you.

I looked up the Katy trail first to get my bearings, and then the images - a clever community-minded reclamation of old train tracks, /'/following the path of the old Missouri-Kansas-Texas Railroad, which was known as MKT or the Katy./'/ Now I know which line the Blues Brothers were singing about....
