Kiss me Goodnight

Contributed by softerware on Friday, 25th September 2015 @ 12:06:13 AM in AEST
Topic: InspirationalPoems

The day left me battered, exhausted and old;
Tired, discouraged, wordless and cold.

My patience used up, my spirit depleted;
Standing, just barely, a warrior defeated.

Your warm wrinkled hand reaches for mine;
At the end of each day, time after time.

The world has no meaning when I’m in your arms.
It pales and withdraws, and I’m safe from all harm.

The sound of your breath is love’s lullaby;
Cradling this child while the night passes by.

Tomorrow I’ll waken to fight a new fight;
Knowing you’ll be there to kiss me goodnight.

Very nice. So many of your poems bring me back to a soft and comfortable place, as this one certainly does.

Love the delivery and the poetic style. Fathers are the safety of daughters. x

If it was fathers,
I'm done long ago. If it
was mothers? I'm suffering more

Exactly. We can't maintain, alone.

Nicely worded.

Reading this was like recalling a memory - a feeling of comfort & innocence.
Great write.
