eyes like the moon

your eyes are on fire like the rising sun
and i am like the moon
making way for the beginning of the day
yet there is hope for me because it must be night somewhere

it seems i will always be a step behind you
(yes im a pessimist and i cannot see myself
as a step ahead of you) i'm
unable to speed up enough to steal a bit of your glow
you should know that i have none of my own to hold
my rays are but a reflection of yours

how my heart has led me to so many dead end streets
pushed me off of so many 1000 ft cliffs and
thrown me into the deep end when i am unable to swim

so love to me now is like the memory of a secret
one i never really knew
just a ledge to grab onto as i was falling through my youth
hours pass quickly in this wonderland

a new day has begun
and i must make way for the sun
