The Rotating Sunset

Contributed by odessa19 on Thursday, 3rd September 2015 @ 02:42:00 AM in AEST
Topic: Nostalgic

It gets old. The body that is.
Wisdom, a trait proportioned equation... age divided by experience.
The more you have, the more painfully it will show, and later the fewer you will want to know.

I’m circling my lessons. Learning new tricks and revisiting old vices - too tormentingly blissful to set free.

I look back at my “foolish” years as a parade of jesters, happy to entertain.
Alas, “it’s time.” All the wonders I’ve seen. All the novel-worthy people I’ve met. The deserts I've wandered and waterfalls I've leapt.

Tell your story. It’s not over. The chapters are turning. The metronome sings.

I can’t help but smile so deep my heart swells and my eyes shut.

I like this poem. It is like a bunch of us got together to share our mistakes and learn wisdom from one another.

When you find yourself in a poem, the author has worked a spell for you. Love the equation, and I'm not young, but those old jesters are still parading for me. Not so agile as they once were, but still making a fool of me. A pleasure, and so were your other poems. You should post more.

Such a strong and beautiful sentiment. I'm not quite there yet. I'm still somewhat young, a quarter of a century old, and held down captive by my own angst.

If I had a number of jesters, I would be human. Strange... It appears I do. I must have been right!

Nice write :)
