Agony is my favorite word
And with all the anger
And laughter
That can be heard
You hear a scream from a distance
You wonder who it is.
You think it is one of your loved ones
But its not
Instead, it is your neighbor getting shot

You lived in a tough neighborhood.
Puts a sharp edge on your rhyme and gives us pause to think ---maybe we aren't so bad off after all!
Nicely done!

I grew up in the inner city so I can relate to this poem well. |
