insomniac

I count the cracks that
Dot the simple ceiling and
Cast streetlight shadows
On the crowded corners of the room,
Tallying silent streams of
To-dos and should've-dones,
Seemingly endless.
Time continues,
To my chagrin,
Relentless against a
Restless, struggling
Sleeper,
still not
Dreaming,
Tossing turns and
Shallow sighs.
Closed eyes try to
Defy the selfish sun,
Screaming dawn
And day.
Tomorrow surely
Holds the same.

Yes - a fitting description of the insomniac's curse. To rise when other's fall; to fall as others rise.

Perfect!
I especially relate to this:
Tallying silent streams of
To-dos and should've-dones,
Seemingly endless.
That's great!

I can relate to this on many levels. I struggle with insomnia. All we can do is work at life and eventually we'll be who we want to be. |
