Living with a Demon

Contributed by sbhottie288 on Wednesday, 5th August 2015 @ 10:08:12 AM in AEST
Topic: war

This is a stigma
That surrounds my head
It's called PTSD
Sometimes it wants me dead

This struggle is real
The fight for my life
I do not want to be scared
When I grab a knife

Some people abuse it
They this it is cool
The people fighting it
Think you're just a fool

It will consume you
Take all your power
It Will overwhelm you
In your darkest hour

It makes you rage
For no reason at all
The ones that love you most
Watch as you fall

As you go down
Further into that hole
You do not see it coming
You do not know its goal

Why is it so hard
To see what is right
Every time I try
The harder it fights

It likes to control
The power in my brain
When it takes over
I have nothing left to gain

The stigma in society
That we are just nuts
Does not really help
Get us out of these ruts

Understand and support
This is a plea
Maybe with the right help
We will finally be free

Maybe part of what causes such conditioning is temporary removal of one's own morality, and in such, humanity.
By ignoring the very morality and humanity one has, who's to say, that the self that then was created does not cling, for fear of being never more.

It's something dark, something scary. Something the likes of us who do not venture into such places as that of war would know, with only few exceptions.

It's with great hope that someday, somehow, soon, very soon, that we can overcome our current economic system, which so heavily relies on war for our various industries to truly succeed here in America.

If this truly is from experience, then I hope you feel better, loved, safe, and far away from the pain you carry. I hope for you, a better life.

Good write. :)
