My solitude is wearing me down,
Like my whole image is bound to be shattered,
To pieces.
What Will be left of me now,
When the image is gone for good?
And only my true self Will be left.
To whisk away like a butterfly.
Will it be the beginning of happy days?
I Guess I am bound to find out,
What my true colours are.
I guess it' s my birthright,
After 47 years of solitude.
And who can be that solitary note,
When my heart aches to be part,
Of the symphony of life anyway?

I got a few years on you and I tried it
and you know solitude ain't so damn bad :)
That said I really liked your poem. It spoke to me.
Nice to know that even though we live in solitude we are not really alone are we? |

stunningly this captures the reason I think
of what makes one write poetry
Just who or whom wrote it
I'm sure even it's writer might not
even know
And still never much care
But perhaps the supper time is already there
by the fire, the distance between
each of us sadly silent never to be shared
without it
A reason to live must be shared.
What a great thought and excellent poem Senior Boomking!
When one looks in on the large crowd of people
and sees all the solitude
it's like the swallows who would return year after year
in San Juan Capistrano - except for some reason they just don't anymore
which is very sad/ most indubitably so.
Peace! |

Good luck as you step forth to embrace the masses. I reckon we are all solitary, imprisoned in our own psyches, even in the crowded cities. Well written. |

Wow...I hear you...I am sixty-four...been married three times, divorced twice and cut off a relationship once. Throughout all of this, I have lived a solitary life. Until I was fifty-four years old, I did not like it one bit! Not one bit! I fought it like our social culture taught me to fight it! How could I be content just being "Me?" I am not anti-social. I enjoy social contact. But I have found that what our society considers to be wholesome social contact is simply "zombies" talking to "zombies." Sorry...the use of the word "zombies" doesn't heighten the perception of a person's intellectualism. Let me explain: Because of our society's foundational paradigm, from our earliest attachment experience years we are taught to reject who and what we are; we are taught to look outside ourselves...we are taught to perceive ourselves through the "eyes of others." What other people think we are is exponentially more important than who and what Nature has ordained us to be. THAT'S CRAZY! Think about it for a minute. Regardless of our strengths and weaknesses, how can any other person claim to KNOW our value...our worth? Throughout my years, I have repeatedly heard: If a person honestly desires to KNOW who and what they are; if a person truly wants to become all they can be...they must be willing to experience loneliness... During the last ten years, I have learned to cherish my solitude. As far as social contact goes, my children are pretty much all there is. I spend three or four days a week with my children...either way, I find myself yearning for my time alone...I don't know if this helps you...before I had fifty-four years of experience, it wouldn't have helped me...at least I don't think it would have...
Discard all of society's bull****, hogwash, chicken c*** and maggot infested detritus, and what I had left was "Me." When I finally uncovered and discovered the real authentic "Me," I began to enjoy spending a whole lot of time with "Me..."

Me again:
When your Image of Self can be shattered by an other person, it is unequivocally certain, you do not KNOW all it is that Nature has from the beginning of time poured into the making of who and what you are...honestly...billions of years worth of universal cause and effect experience has been committed to the creation of who and what you are...there is no other person like you...you are a one-of-a-kind creation. You are not just special...you are irreplaceable...taken to physics-based neuroscience extremes...our universe could not exist if you were not you...spending time with you would be a privilege for anyone who is not an intuitive status quo "zombie!" : )
Blessings...it is a privilege to have read a poem written by someone as irreplaceable as you are...enigma...ron |
