Rose’s Lament
A gilded rose under moonbeam’s gaze
Sits and waits for her true love’s embrace
With ever saddening eyes patience abounds so there she stays
With her petals of flaxen satin and lace
While words turn silent, heart-strings continue to play their somber tune
With only one thought flying free nothing forever more will matter
For another day is laid to rest with a gentle kiss from an evanescent moon
As her tears fall at her feet and like glass they shatter
That gilded rose lost in her dreams she sits in a daze
As true love’s whisper flows like a summer’s wind
While the sky changes from warming hues to chilling grays
So it is this dream that enables her to carry on as upon the same breath her love she does send
Her dreams she carries soft and sweet.
As with long sighs she ponders in whole hearted bewilderment
For it is within these realms she feels complete.
Until her love is holding her heart she can never be content
So waiting for the sun she sleeps
For no one can know of her loneliness although her stem is straight her feelings are bent
And inside a cracking heart her love she keeps
As only time can end a rose’s lament

Which is why roses have thorns. To deter the disingenuous hands that seek to pluck her and let her wither rather than admiring and leaving her to blossom |

Nicely done, with great and colorful words and imagery. I also like mg's take on it as well.
May the sun come soon and offer the kind fond warmth so well deserved. :) |
