anguished
|
I get a sunrise
and sunset:
100,000 heartbeats
and 20,000 breaths
over 1400 minutes
in a 24 hour day
a dawn starts it all,
and dusk takes it away
breakfast and a coffee,
then strangers on a train
hoping that the new day
will not be so mundane
the dull routine of work,
not every target met
a splash of final colour,
then a moment of regret
a brief somnolescence
after TV and wine:
reflecting on the day
just seems a waste of time
a book for solitude,
tears, soft and wet
and a sunset till sunrise,
is sometimes all you get.

I've been there and felt that.
The key is finding the beauty and utility in the mundane!
Great write!
