The mirror reflects,
As do I,
On what the linear parameters have brought.
Though time has alleviated the once certain mind,
To look within; and without.
If only the glass where a portal,
To escape such strict a force,
To learn before I have learnt,
Of what I would do in the future.
For although what I have done,
Has made me the person I am,
I could be more of the person I am; a future me
I would tell, in rasply undertones,
(For a rasply undertone seems like
The sound of a time traveller,
Mysterious, yet ruggedly sure)
To dance along the light of darkness;
To notice the unique simplicity of the trunk,
and not just the flower it does produce,
Because without foundation,
You cannot produce a work of wonders
Enter the rapture, I would say,
Fall from the cliff;
Let the wind ruffle through your mind
But keep your hands along that harness;
For it will keep you sane.
And fear at bay
Explore why things are,
Not why you are,
For the latter will see you as a waste;
And the former shall see with an enlightened eye.
Contort yourself, but not within conformity;
Stretch far, into tomorrow;
The worlds best thinkers;
Did not mess with social constrictions;
They cast their lives forward and thought in the morrow.
Be a skeleton key,
Able to access all behind locked doors;
Yet only stepping in when the actual key cannot be found
Do not envy,
For you had the right idea;
And those that once you envied,
Are now envious
Remember, if you change yourself,
Simply to conform to one environment,
What happens when that environment is taken
If you give a man a shell to wear,
Is he a turtle?
Or is he a man with new found protection.
For a shell on your back,
Will prove to be better than ever a man would be.
Although it will be hard to admit,
I shall whisper in embarrassment;
Forget the materialistic urges:
For if that is your focal point;
The void will converge on you;
The man that needs materials to live;
Is a man that is not living
For 'we've learnt to fly the sky like birds, we've learnt to swim the seas like fish,
But we are yet to walk the earth like brothers and sisters'
Look within, not around;
A need is what you are born with,
A want is what you can live without.
And although you have much love in your heart,
Love more,
Make up for those who are experiencing drought,
By wetting their parched soul,
With a breath of love.
For then, in turn, they will help another.
You will love many,
And this love will seem emotionally orgastic,
Yet elusive and empty.
But wade on,
For too many in the history of being,
Take up arms,
When all that is truly needed is a love of the enemy;
A realisation that they could just as easily,
Be you.
Do not fear, we all have times;
When it is confusing,
But trust your feet to step,
And your mind to see,
And soon,
You'll be here, and be me
Now I stand in my reflection,
Confused;
As to the older man looking back at me.
His rasply voice speaking in tongues, it seems,
It's meaning, eluding me,
'I will be you, one day?
Well maybe then, I'll hear:
Maybe then I'll listen to what you say,
But for now I am me, not you-me
For the sapling to grow and understand himself,
He needs time, water and support;
Without which he would be a fool.
So I'll see you soon, me;
And maybe then,
I'll be you,
or,
You'll be me.

This one abounds in wisdom! You have learned so much along your journey, and you are not foolish to think if you had known these nuggets of truth earlier on, you'd be all the wiser. Life is a journey and growth a vital component. Very well written.
