Slowly, Stranger, lay me to rest
Among the coils of root and mud
The silent lark nestled upon my breast
Cradled together in earth and blood
I could not count the grains as they fell
One by one upon my bed
The blanket sealing my immortal spell
As darkness and death wed
Can you see my eyes stutter?
As I grasp Death, hand in hand
My soul lost to the vows I utter
His scarlet eyes, weeping where I stand
Courting you, my sightless Stranger
With whispered breaths as we kissed
Enraptured by passion and danger
As we coiled into swirling mist

I think you will have been missed. Dark and brooding but image-laden. An apt post for the week in which we lost the great Christopher Lee.

Wickedly evil, dark and moody but what a beauty!
seriously good imagery! as I read it I found myself painting it in my head. It reads like a film I saw it! |

Vivid imagery. I dont think that you are a bit rusty at all. It was a very good read. I enjoyed it. Look forward to reading more of your work.
