It is nine thirty nine
In a resteraunt
On one of the many
Golden hills of
Southern Spain
A man in a suit
Just a bit too expensive
To justify
Sits down with a lady
Dressed casually
Yet somehow she glows
With a magnetic radiance
In the dull
Predictable formal format,
He orders an expensive red wine
They sip pointlessly on
This luxury which neither truly enjoy
And the wine
His charm rests on his
Black Tie
And comes off with it
First course is served
A step into the water
Just beyond small talk
It hasnt been cooked enough.
The words are uncomfortable
In their mouths
And the intentions
Of the faceless chef
Are impossible to decipher
His past served
Smothered in the paranoia
Of her judgement.
End of part 1.

well written and intriguing. I wonder what the title really was before it was edited? |

Intriguing. I miscounted the asterisks, thought it was Salinger, and we were in for a treat on old Holden. Guess it was Salamander. Definitely caught the attention. |
