Promises, promises.

It is inevitable
(through sheer mathematics)
That a future soul mate
Is here somewhere
Perhaps
(although not most likely)
Feeling as I do.
Well, angel
I have a handful
Of carefully selected promises
Which I am unable to break
I promise never to let you burn
For the raincloud that will
Form over you once you love me
Will rain upon any flame
I promise to always be there for you
My cold shoulder
Will always be there to cry on
I promise you will never be lonely
The insecurities I create
Will be with you always
I promise
Never to break these promises.
A good man always delivers.

The last line is so true.
But what I have learned is its a two way street.
Any lady worth having will also deliver in your time of need.
Those are the keepers.
Great read- thanks

Love it... though relationships are a two way street, not just a one way... but I do agree with you on the last line of the poem. |
