In Your Honor

Contributed by waynster on Monday, 25th May 2015 @ 04:23:12 PM in AEST
Topic: Tributes

Standing here at attention
as your flag is folded, is where I need to be
Taps is being played
as I salute to you from me

You defended our country with honor
your sacrifice was giving your life
You leave behind many memories
for your family, your children, and your wife

Many tears are shed
many questions asked why
I stand here and salute you
I know in vain you did not die

Proud to be a soldier
you gave it your all and very best
You knew the sacrifices to be made
now taps is being played, as we lay you to rest

In our hearts you will be forever
your memories etched in each and every mind
Your service to your country
very honorable is what we find

Family and friends are grieving
your loss strikes us all, very deep in the heart
Your body being lowered now
as from this world forever you depart

I lower my salute now
but inside myself I pray
I will continue to carry the honor you held
in our fight for freedom on any given day
