A fleeting moment

I'm sorry that I chose worldly pleasure over you once again
Since I new that you would forgive me but deep inside
I still feel terrible because I've taken out to many
pre-ordered loans of forgiveness and even though
you already paid the bill it's still feels like stones weighing
heavily upon my chest which sometimes makes me wish
the check would just bounce or that you would close up shop
So I could feel the pain I deserve and maybe then it would be
easier to change and to not take your love for me for granted
But I know in the back of my mind only you can truly pay the debt
even when I search for something to fill the black whole of emptiness
that's in my life with meaningless and unhealthy things I realize
that I shouldn't be taking advantage of your unearned forgiveness
because nothing compares to the peace I can find in you if I accept it
If only I could remember this even after a spiritual high if only
I could trust that you love me regardless of my mistakes for longer
than just a few fleeting moments
