These Days

Contributed by desciple on Tuesday, 19th May 2015 @ 06:24:45 PM in AEST
Topic: ChristianPoetry

These shackles these chains, these bruises these scars,
These torn garments that hold me together…
While the whole world around us tears its self apart.
This pain this anguish, this hurt this agony,
This insanity that has blinded us all by this vanity.
They seek refuge, they teach those who can’t be reached
About the boy who became our savior from Galilee
They round us up like herd
They gather the last of us
Those who won’t go quietly.
Nations at war,
Presidents with no states,
Bishops with no pope,
Churches with no flocks
Kingdoms without monarchy,
There is no safe place to hide,
No hills to run to,
No sky scraping mountains to ask for rocks to fall upon you and me,
We have ignored the errors of our ways and have brought upon us this Anarchy.
It has been written, we’ve been told…we just didn't listen,
These days, these foreboding times…
Professed in the book Timothy,
Our blind eyes, our deaf ears…have exalted us into iniquity.
Seeking the remedy of his divinity
We hope for the father, we pray to the son…
And ask for the holy ghost.
Amen.
