The Siren

Contributed by lydthon15 on Monday, 18th May 2015 @ 10:34:46 AM in AEST
Topic: ApologyPoetry

I don't think of you as a terrible person
who is purposely leading me down the wrong path
just a person who's drowning but doesn't know what to do

I don't think that I'm a perfect person
not some one who has the right to judge you
just someone trying to help both of us stay on the land

because I know that sometimes the sea calls to us
and the currents become to hard to swim through
but I also know something else is true

That sometimes when you try to help a drowning person
you can end up being the one to sink along with them
and you can't save someone who doesn't want to be saved

So I'm sorry that I can't try to help you save yourself
but I've gone under to many times trying to do the nice thing
and now I have to swim back to the shore away from the endless waves

Love the overall metaphor in this poem and you are so right, "you can't save someone who doesn't want to be saved".

Nicely done. Keepa writin'!
