selfstruggles

I think that their's a point where you become
comfortable with the bad things in your life
When you become accepting of how things are
Then happiness knocks on your door and
you turn it away claiming it's thinly veiled chaos
That it's all not real like the ones that came before
the ones that called themselves honesty and life
You bang your fists on the re-closed door and
ask the ceiling why this happened to you
When in reality it's because you choose to
let the past walk through the frame of your door
and it follows you around like a phantom telling
you that happiness will never come back because
it is all you will ever need in your life so you
look out your window and see happiness and life
are right outside your door but the door is rusty
so instead you burst out the window and
choose to take risks meeting a friend called hope

This write contains so many truths - the reader nods in agreement with each line. Even as it depicts a deep sadness and sorrow, you offer the golden ray of hope. I could relate. Very nice write, P |

by the title I thought, oh no, not another knock knock poem, here we go.
But knocks come and they might build up for more than just a few... real knocks, loneliness, sorrows of the past, things out of ones control, the blame yourself knocks that never allow one to move on down the road,
people hold it all in and end up hating any good will
from someone else / the clinched fists kind of knock
If life is a competition we all lost
you got to knock hard on the door to life
knock knock, who's there, it's me life, let me in
I want to be free, cause for some crazy reason
I seem to remember what that feels like.
nice poem!
Peace! |

What a delight to read the way you write--talking to yourself as we all do to sort things out!
Not only is the analogy clever, but the message is downright revitalizing!
And it you can't get out the door, climb the chimney!
A no excuses tale of self renewal! I love it!
(and I don't' have a chimney!)
