My Pursuit of Happiness

Contributed by karoody on Saturday, 9th May 2015 @ 03:51:49 AM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

We all have our journeys
Moments of excitement and wonder
Moments of laughter and smiles
We all find trials along our way
Moments of sadness
Moments of fear
Once upon a time
The word cancer appeared in my pages
I looked at my doctor in disbelief
I looked to my husband across the room
Thoughts of my babies filled my mind
For the first time in my life
I was truly terrified
There was this door
Unknown monsters
These choices no one wants to make
This family so precious to me
Overwhelming and confusing emotions
There was this door
I found so much encouragement
I found so much love
So many people with open arms
I found comfort, a safe place to lie
When my courage fails me
I opened the door, looked at the monster
I felt so frightened, vulnerable
I looked next to me
My husband was there, holding my hand
My children at my feet
A family cheering for us
A beautiful world full of beautiful people
A world full of mystery waiting for me
A life with so many blessings
Amidst all the fear, the confusion
There was all this love and smiles
All this beauty
All this comfort
All of these blessings
Amidst all this darkness
I found this beautiful light

Thank you Karoody for mentioning cancer, the incurable disease that so many people are afraid of.
But, fortunately you have found happiness, not in the strangest ways, but in the simple but comforting way, the love and care of your (our) loved ones.

You just explained, by poetry, why God allows trials, along with blessings. Very good. God bless you.
