Bumps and bruises
I'm hurt, I'm injured
Before this at bat began
It abruptly ended
Gourmet minor league steak sandwiches
And wet washed uniforms
I was cruising for a win in the fourth
And then came a rain storm
I've played east, west, north, and south
And I'm at home on the bus
I turned a corner then was released
Off to tell my wife and kids-now that's tough
A few weeks down
Then, new league, new family
A run to the bank
I'm in the red, that's my salary
As summer fades, more important are the games
For my team, myself and family
Irreplaceable Friends from many places and cultures I've made
It's all because of you
I thank God for this little white ball
