The Matron Trinity

Contributed by xHeathenx on Saturday, 25th April 2015 @ 05:01:35 PM in AEST
Topic: abstract

In a salted underground catacomb
In which only insects and rodents know home
There is a trinity of matron souls
Wayward, drifting through times and their numerous holes

Three women, each a delegated representation
The first is young, in late teens, possessing maturity's probation
She bares no eyes, no nose, but only a mouth sewn shut
She has a voice with no proper use, no ifs, ands, or buts

The second is a middle-aged woman in soft presence
With no features but a nose without nostrils, smell's not her sense
The two stand together, the latter caring for the former
Their bond essential, it makes their condition warmer

And last but not least, the third is their elder
Resting in a chair, her hair a fine silver
No mouth or nose, but two eyes blind and white
The younger two trust her, for she is seldom not right

The mute plays a drum, her hands are action's hum
The asnomiac played a flute, her tunes as passionate toots
While the blind elder played a lute with somber tone,
As the sounds came together, and formed a spectacular moan

The trio dance, oh how they dance!
They carry a status, one not by mere chance
They are the symbol, sociological effigies
Each to represent, their generations for centuries

I seen no one had commented on your poem so I thought I would read it. Some won't understand your words, but through what I have read it sounded a little ghastly at the start, but having read further on I feel you are trying to draw the reader more to the tunes of music these three ladies were making and more to the joyous dancing even though they were without so much of there senses the senses most of us take for granted. well done!!!!

This is wonderfully written and I don't know if I understand its meaning, but I will say it reminded me of my spelunking days as a young man in places around West VA.

You get an eerie and yet enchanting feeling going down in a cave, maybe finding a stream to follow, and it gives you this glorious look at time through calcite formations. Caves in general are wonderful places where animals and humans once took shelter.

Each women perhaps representing centuries could represent a very very long time...
So perhaps she, is this hallowed land, and the many changes she has seen through the ages up until now.

Each women, represents something missing, a mystery
and yet you say they belong to one another, and perhaps have all along.

But here you say that each represents sociological effigies - without actual sight, a mouth for communication, or a nose with which to smell.

So this makes me think of the Earth. Teaming with life, and water, looking up to the sky seeing only blue on a sunny cloudless day, the water droplets forming if you will, a cocoon-like ocean up above.

I enjoy reading your poems Heathenx ! They are all wonderfully written words that one can easily tell, come form a generous and thoughtful mind.

Thanks for sharing!

Peace!
