Distorted Quests and Guides

Contributed by xHeathenx on Sunday, 12th April 2015 @ 07:25:06 PM in AEST
Topic: StoryPoetry

There was a young man walking along the Earth,
He traveling eons, to find the source of his plight
A ghost among specters that bore no notice,
He was grabbed from a desert by Atlas's hand's might

He was thrown into space, cast into the stars
A wide-open prison where existence was the bars
He threw every single fiber into a forward motion
And landed home in the middle of the ocean

Still he traveled on, his unrest not quelled
For the future for him, he had no idea how it spelled
There was a guide who came along on occasion
And spoke to him, gave inspiration through persuasion

Life had chewed him up, then thrown him in the trash
But with every fiber of his being, and his spirit truly brash
He climbed his way back out, he was no mere lout
He fought the attempts to stop his quest, an eternal bout

When the guide who came to him had spoken in his ear,
"When you pray, as you often do each year,
Keep your eyes open, as well as your hands,
To see your blessing and take hold of them, upon these dusty sands."

He was thrown into chaotic dismay, by words that were unclear
"Guide of mine, why is your message, always words that are so queer?"

The guide had laughed, and flashed him a light smile
He saw humor in every single mile
"I am not a guide to steer you in wrong direction,
But an image, your own internal reflection."

A storyteller you are. This is impressive.

I too read it like a story even though it's a poem.
Great write. I really like this one!

James

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
