tonight i sit and listen to the crickets sing
my heart is grateful for things life brings
one lone voice speaks now in the wilderness
indeed silence breathes through the darkness,
only a slight breeze stirs- then a frogs voice
a cacophony of noise clamors into a chorus
rowdy fellows of the night as croaking soars
crickets join in song- night in glorious uproar!

What a beautiful poem. I ones slept at a truck stop it rained so much a large shallow dam formed. Bull frogs appeared from all over they sang all night it was one of the most peaceful sleeps I've ever had. TFS. God bless

You begin with silence, paint the scene, draw us into your moment, and like a skilled conductor, you orchestrate the chorus into uproarious pandemonium!
This is lovely, and very vivid. Techicolor words, with stereophonic sound!
Makes me want to stand up and clap!
"A moment of quiet reflection" indeed!"
More, please?

Where I work there is a pond nearby. Sometimes when it rains really hard, all the frogs come out hop around the parking lot. Me and a friend always go around and gather all the frogs so that they don't get run over. :) Frogs have always been one of my favorite animals. I have always loved to sit and listen to nature. |

Hi Nessa,
Makes me wish I was back home sitting around the lake with a fire burning and listening to everything around me. This was beautifully written as always.
