Those Who Killed Me

Contributed by spike on Monday, 6th April 2015 @ 01:52:19 AM in AEST
Topic: StoryPoetry

who killed me?
I really need to know;
I was walking home from school
when I felt the mortal blow

who raped me?
who stole my innocence,
and left me sore and broken
and them no recompense

so many crimes of passion
so many heartless acts,
all lost and forgotten in
those quiet suburban tracts

the lonely street fulfilment
of all things to be feared:
was it something that I did
to join the disappeared?

to feel the unkind hand…

I need to understand

—who killed me?

I don't know the answer to this one Spike,
but let me put this out there...
I just penned this piece about what is wrong
with war, the way we go into it without weighing
what it means. The way only a small percentage
of people really end up truly knowing the truth by going into war and hopefully coming back again.
I deleted it because I felt it might upset a veteran
I don't know.
Everywhere you look there are these advertisements to join the military, everywhere at most high schools they have these advertisements for the young kids, except of course at the rich schools.
The world as we all know now is a dangerous place
It's a geopolitical nonsense that is to the average person said to be far too sacrosanct to
speak out against.

We killed you, or at least we joined in by not giving a damn.

or possibly you meant something else entirely,
if so, disregard what I just said.

Peace!

At first when I started reading this poem I wanted to stop, for no other reason than, I can't handle violence against woman and children. This is a very sad poem just the mere thought of what you saying here sends a chill down my spine. I so pray this is just a topic and not history. If not the answer you looking for is everyone. TFS God bless.

Greetings
Rus

A question I often ask myself. All these years later my cousins body has never been recovered and we really do not know, and I fear never will know what happened and where her remains are.You wrote well on a heart sick subject. Something I shall never understand but only wish to fix so no other child,no other woman,no other family shall have to live with this thing and torment and it is torment.

Hugs
Michelle

I really like the way you took hold of the subject and made your point, without spewing graphical details all over the page.
This is it's power, the simply stated.
