war

My soul is free this winters night
Upon this street with drunken fights
And all the world awaits the dawn
And Await the sight of a snowy lawn
But I'm not here, no-one knows
Upon my grave the flowers grow
And under the roof my children cry
As only one year has passed them by
And my eyes are filled with salty tears
And my mind is filled with you my dear
For sorry I am that there I'm not
These memories won't be forgot
So thank you war for taking life
This Afghan fighter was hit by strife
And no-one now is here to see
All that I was going to be...

Hello boet
Tears to my eyes. I walked away with my life yet some of my friends did not. War is never the answer yet it is inevitable some times. All we can do is hope that one day war will be a thing of the past. A powerful poem. God bless
Greetings

Good read. and rhyme scheme is good, but the thought of words not spoken to loved ones left behind says it all. |

I am able to read your poem from the perspective of a buried soul! From the words of a soldier that is in his grave. A soul that reaches out to the ones he loves and has so many words he would love to say. Thank you for sharing this!
God Bless all who serve or have served! Also God Bless you for conveying the words of many whom can no longer speak, because their lives have been taken too soon.
