Sometimes A Beast Within

Contributed by waynster on Monday, 30th March 2015 @ 03:01:52 PM in AEST
Topic: oops

The beast is blind
yet it knows everything I do
It reaches from the depths of me
just to get to you

Always trying to hold it back
making me go through changes each and every time
That’s when I find myself on a quest
of the highest mountain I can climb

Just wanting to evade
society as a whole
Trying to contain the beast within
by communicating alone with my soul

The pressure can be much
my brain deals with it in its own special way
Needing time to myself
on this given day

The enemy within
wants to soil you with its evil touch
It tries tearing through these fleshy walls
because it wants you all so much

Being kept in exile
a soul that sometimes turns to beast
It’s so full of anger
wanting another place to feast

I am the keeper of the key
the master of this place I have deep inside
Eventually my soul will kill this beast
then all painful days will finally subside

This is like an undertow on a beautiful ocean. I can feel what you describe pulling at me as I read along! Knowing the power of the beast to take over, …scary!
Thank you for a chilling reminder that we are not so different from the animals as we wish to be. And best to be on guard against our inner life.
I really enjoyed this Wayne!

I like the didactic nature of your poem. You teach well with your words rhythm and heart.

"I've seen that road before
Don't want to be there no more
where the spider web reaches
and my own heart deceives me"

Excerpt from "Hindsight" by A.Brown

Enjoyable read. So good to know there is always a light at the end of the tunnel.
