And It Was You

Contributed by jamesstockdale on Saturday, 28th March 2015 @ 12:33:23 PM in AEST
Topic: LovePoetry

With the hope
Of tomorrow
Fading away

I simply walked on
In search of a better way
A fresh start to a new day

Riddled with sorrow and pain
The likes I could not wish away
My hate and disdain
Were all that remained

I said goodbye
To the world I once knew
Washed it away
Replaced it with new

In my darkest hour
The sun shined through
God sent me a gift
And it was you.

The stanzas feel short and sweet, and I like the sentiment here. Makes me think it'd be a fine dedication to a child. :)
