I Hold My Soul In High Regard

Contributed by invierno on Thursday, 26th March 2015 @ 11:53:41 AM in AEST
Topic: InspirationalPoems

I hold my soul in high regard;
I'll keep it soft
If I stay hard,
we're together
yet still apart,
this divine and treasured spark;
my flesh is but the house
to protect it from sin without,
holding dear the core of me
that exists beyond this world I see.
When my soul's tenancy is done,
its encasement gone to dust,
in new lodgings as it must,
may the next landlord treasure,
love, and hold measure to the trust.

Welcome back!
A curious read here that asks who will be the keeper of my soul when I am unable. I think you trust the present and hope the best for tomorrow.
No matter. We only have today, and wonderful venues like your poetry to share what we know, hope, and wish for.
At best we give away all that we know; at worst, we will keep our gifts to our graves.
Your message has reminded me that our choice is to bequeath our knowledge as we choose, or have it cast to the winds by our survivors. A fine reminder that we can't pick the next landlord…but perhaps we can inspire his thoughtful care with a pristine legacy?
I hold your thoughts in high regard!
