I gave him a broken girl.
Armed with a laugh that would hit the back of your throat and warm your cheeks.
Eyes that once made the stars wonder their significance
Now her organs cave
her neck snaps
her ribs crack
her face sunken
I gave him a broken girl.
Body like a blanket that once reminded the boys of home,
now an avalanche of flesh.
Selfishly, I gave her over to the man who’s convinced he can fix anything.
I gave him a broken girl.
Once so easy on the eyes,
she implodes.
While the man who can fix anything
Waits
Ready with his tools.
Crying over the broken girl,
I watch as the man who can fix anything
scrambles for the pieces.
Working through the night,
the darkness is long but me and the girl count on the sun.
In the morning, he offers me his hand
I stare at his open palm
Crimson avenue that heals worlds, he has a way with wounds
... Once a broken girl
