~Tender Mercies~

Contributed by shelby on Wednesday, 18th March 2015 @ 12:14:33 AM in AEST
Topic: Grief

I'm not sure how I feel
a numbed ache
not sure I can tell.
A soft sigh,
wind moaning in barren branch
world so still and quiet
tears wanting to break free
but they wont,I shall not let them.

I find it heart wrenching
the way it went down.
Seemed like to me
a scene from a wild west of old town.
Sickened, sad,maybe angry too
what in the hell did you do?Did you do?

Years passed by the wayside
but still love for you remained.
Family is family
blood will remain.
I dont want to go to another funeral
seems lately, that is all that I do.
Upon coming home
what a thing once more to come home to.

Good Lord brush your hand
and spare tender mercies.
I know they are needed
for those who are grieving.

Never for a moment
I could imagine this
or maybe I could
but just wouldn't believe it.

What happened to you?
All of these years.
Your soul consumed
your common sense disappeared?
I dont know your demons
wished they weren't there
but all of this
well my heart cant comprehend.

I wanted to rage for a moment
my fists in the air
HOW STUPID WERE YOU
WHY DIDNT YOU CARE?
Care for yourself and for those who loved you
tender and loving,steadfast and true.

But why?? The rage ended fast
you are dead, gone in an instant
with a Spring March wind.
Now your soul may be set free
Tender Mercies for you
across Heavens Gate.
Or at least that is what
at this moment
Im trying to believe.

But I still dont understand
and I just dont want to.
Rest easy, and know......
my cousin,I will always love you.

In loving memory of Phillip Miles Clay

and damn you man, WHY?

Suicide?

So sorry for your loss but you definitely have a way of just filling a page with words. This shocks and stuns.

*hugs tight*

Tim

I'm with Tim on this.
It is a beautiful heart felt poem but full of things
most rather not think about. You can get so beat down in life no matter how strong you are, that you have no idea on who you are or where you are.

Your mind lies to you. People just want peace and to be free. We can't blame them for being in pain.
My sincere condolences.
