The Man Along the Road

I've learned some lessons
While traversing the roads of life
I learned what it means to trust and love
And what it means to live your life
I've walked many miles with worn-out soles
And rode many more on a bike with flat tires
I've learned it's easier to threaten those who are different
And to be afraid of further change
Than to go the better route
And learn how to accept them both
It's easy to pass the bum along the road
But difficult to learn to like his voice
Maybe if you took a moment
To listen to his words
You would come to learn his wisdom
Gained through troubled years
And so on the road to the future
I stopped and caught a ride
I would've stopped, and waited for my friends
But they stopped in the past, and stayed to cauterize

I really like the message in this. I love the way you sum it all up with the last line.
Thanks,
