Defeat

These knees swell with inflammation
In carrying a heavy heart
I drown in the blood it bleeds
As it leaks out my skin in crimson beads
I stare at grey and navy covers
And long for cyan ceilings
My room has for a while darkened,
Until the light bulb will soon harken
I crawl for the time being
Feeling my way through the unknown
My joints getting sore
Joining my knees in an empathetic score
Burdened lungs and pipes wheeze
Escaping air along with dreams
The replacements now are less fantastic,
And perhaps it's something drastic
Stand, gather 'round!
Watch the show of defeat!
See the crushing of the soul!
Watch as another man is swallowed whole!
Slumber now eludes me,
As I trudge on in repetition
A slave to a daily grind,
Who has no more hope to unwind

I feel you on the last stanza
of your flow,
well done. |
