The Angels, they weep
For a troubled soul that could not sleep
In anguish a heart that's buried deep
Within me your memory I shall forever keep
The raindrops on a lily pad
Tears are flowing; enraged now, I am so mad!
It's not fair! He was too young! The man who was my Dad.
As the Heavens pour down their tribute for you today
I cannot help but feel sorrow and dismay
For now I will bear the pain and sadness until tomorrows dawn washes it away
And once again I will allow myself to be okay
But not this day; rest in peace Daddy, for today is your birthday.

Beautifully worded and flowing. I wish not to ever speak of anyone's loved ones deceased or living as if I know them, generally if I don't of course, but I will say this: Were I a father, and my child had written something of this nature for me, I would be blown away, and would love such a great thing they have done on behalf of what I meant to them.
As far as I am concerned, though I cannot speak from experience, were a loved one or relative as meaningful to me as my mother/father/best friend, or etc. pass, I would always think of how every thing that I do that I recognize and attribute to them, and notice how their nature became my nature. I would see and remember that who I am, is defined by a seemingly infinite number of choices, words, and actions that were shaping of who I am. Without those things, I would not be the same person I am. I can't assume I would be better or worse than I am now, should they not have happened, because I can't know, but I can remember how important I am to myself and others that I care for and love. Were it not for them, I would be something and someone else entirely. And I would love them for helping to shape me, into the person of which I am, that I treasure, as well as their memory. :)
All the best,
-Mark |

I also wanted to add that as I said, the poem itself is beautiful, and the imagery is fantastic. :) |

I can relate to this, my day passed when I was 17, that was 30 years ago, but I still think of him often. Your remembrance will always remain. |
